The efficiency and lifespan of a submersible pump directly depend on the adequate cooling of its electric motor. If your submersible pump fails prematurely, or the well diameter significantly exceeds the pump diameter, the main reason could be insufficient cooling, leading to motor overheating. It is precisely to solve this critical problem that the Pedrollo cooling shroud for 4SR motors with power ratings of 2.2-3 kW was developed.

 

Why is Cooling So Important for a Well Pump?

 

Any electric motor generates heat during operation. During prolonged operation, it reaches the so-called steady thermal balance. If the pumped water does not sufficiently flow around the motor casing, cooling becomes ineffective. This leads directly to: 

▪️Insulation overheating: Shortens the lifespan of the windings. 

▪️Intensive insulation aging: Every additional 10 degrees of heating approximately halves the insulation's lifespan. 

▪️Sharp drop in overall motor lifespan: The pump fails much earlier than planned.
